Priscilla Goes to Pushkar

Pushkar With Brahma’s Blessings

There is a fascinating mythological significance attached to Pushkar.  According to myth Lord Brahma was on his way in search of a suitable place to perform Yajna(Fire sacrifice).  While contemplating, a lotus fell from his hand to the earth and water sprout out from three places.  One of them is today’s Pushkar Lake- an important Hindu pilgrimage centre.
Surrounded by Hills on three sides, Pushkar abounds in temples.  Of these, the most famous is the Brahma temple-the only one dedicated to Lord Brahma in the country of Rajhasthan.
Main temples:
Sivatri temple, Man Mahal, and the Brahma temple
